A visit is really the only way to know. Come and meet the team, watch how the children explore, and get a sense of whether this is the right place for your family.
Come and visitWhy families choose Weydown
Curiosity cannot be scheduled. Here is how we create the space for it to happen naturally, every single day.
Weydown blends Reggio Emilia, Montessori and the Curiosity Approach into one cohesive practice. The environment is viewed as the 'third educator', encouraging curiosity, exploration and creativity through real-life and nature-based opportunities. Children explore, question and discover at their own pace.
Children head outdoors at least once, often twice, every day. Forest School sessions help them build confidence and self-esteem through first-hand learning in a natural setting. The team believes nature is the best learning environment, so wellies are a wise investment.
The Famly app sends photos and updates throughout the day, so you know how things are going before pick-up. Parents are invited to open evenings and information sessions, and can arrange to come into the nursery to join in activities when time allows.
Our 10-day calm start gives every child a structured, gentle transition into nursery life.
What makes us differentChildren move through our nursery at their own pace, with each room designed to follow their natural curiosity. Small groups, familiar faces, and plenty of time to explore what fascinates them.

Things parents ask us
Every child is assigned their own key person from day one, who takes responsibility for helping them feel secure and building a genuine relationship with your family. We take settling at each child's pace because we know that when you feel comfortable leaving, your child picks up on that confidence too. Our small team means familiar faces every day, which helps little ones find their feet more quickly.
We would be happy to share our latest Ofsted report and talk through what inspectors observed when you visit. Our team can walk you through what the findings mean in practice for your child's experience here.
Bring clothes you do not mind getting muddy, as outdoor play happens rain or shine. You will need to supply nappies and wipes if your child is still in them. Beyond that, just bring your child ready to explore because we take care of the rest.
Children spend time both indoors in our Curiosity Approach environment, which is calm and carefully arranged to spark exploration, and outdoors in nature at least once or twice daily, whatever the weather. The rhythm of the day follows children's interests and energy rather than rigid timetables, with forest school experiences woven throughout. We believe nature is the best learning environment, so expect muddy boots and big stories at pickup.
Children enjoy nutritious meals and snacks throughout the day as part of their time with us. We are always happy to discuss any dietary requirements or allergies during your visit so we can accommodate your child's needs.
We use Famly, a parent app that sends you photos and updates throughout the day so you can see what your child has been up to in real time. Your child's key person is also available for face to face chats at pickup, and we hold regular parents' evenings to talk through development in more depth. You are also welcome to come into the nursery and join in activities when time allows.
The Curiosity Approach blends Reggio Emilia and Montessori principles to create an environment where natural materials, open-ended resources and calm spaces invite children to lead their own learning. At Weydown, this means your child will explore real objects, follow their own questions, and develop independence through hands-on discovery rather than adult-directed tasks. The environment itself is considered the third educator, thoughtfully arranged to spark wonder and awe.
Yes, we offer funded spaces for 38 weeks of the year on a term time basis. We accept all childcare vouchers and can help you navigate what funding you are entitled to, whether that is 15 or 30 hours. The government's childcare calculator is a useful starting point, and we are always here to talk through the options.
